The Golden Apple is used to change the coat of your horse. You used to be able to sample coats from the golden apple onto your horse, but now you are no longer able to sample. You can buy golden apples using passes. After you put the GA(Golden Apple) on your horse you are left with a magnificent and beautiful coat on your horse.

It costs money to get passes, so if you want a pass to get a GA then use your money to buy them.
